Clifton Burt and Nicole Lavelle continue their focus on design writing by producing a new project: a live reading from a handful writers in Portland who contribute to the discussion about design, and a printed book to capture the evening's pieces. Join us for an evening of readings from five Portlanders, each applying their perspective to the broad topic of design. Limited-edition books containing the evening's writings and published by Ampersand will be available for purchase at the event. Including readings from: Carl Alviani, Jen Delos Reyes, Gary Robbins, Eric Trine, and Namita Gupta Wiggers.

In conjunction with Design Week Portland 2013, this panel will explore creative entrepreneurship in Portland and feature John Economaki (BCTW), Karl Burkheimer (OCAC), Rebecca Pearcy (Queen Bee), and craftsmen from Shwood and Grove. Moderated by Namita Gupta Wiggers.
On view all during Design Week Portland 2013 is the exhibition, Quality is Contagious: John Economaki and Bridge City Tool Works, featured in MoCC's collections gallery. The exhibition communicates all aspects of John Economaki's approach to work and life by combining his furniture, tools, sketches, prototypes, photographs, videos, and interactive programs to give visitors the opportunity to understand the life and work of this innovative Oregon-based entrepreneur.
